Discover the Sami culture and rendeer herding with a lecture
My grandparents were nomadic reindeer herders until the 1930s and lived closely with the reindeer in nature. I grew up in a reindeer herding family and still live with reindeer husbandry together with my partner who is a reindeer herder and take care of the familys reindeer.
Today, our lands are threatened by mining, logging, and wind power – often in the name of "sustainability." Many people are unaware of Sweden's indigenous people or how nature has been used for generations. Sami culture and reindeer herding are still marginalized, despite a long history of oppression and colonization.
Dálvvás Sámi Culture Experience offers lectures and experiences for larger groups, such as companies, municipalities, and schools, that want to understand Sami culture and reindeer herding in depth.

I’m Marita Sikku, a Sámi from a reindeer herding family. I live with my partner, son, and daughter, leading a split life between Kiruna and Luleå. Each winter, we bring reindeer down from the mountains to Luleå, where we share Sámi culture and reindeer herding with visitors. In summer, I return to Kiruna, close to my family, reindeer, and the mountains I love.
With years of experience in tourism and teaching, I've always dreamed of starting my own company to offer authentic, hands-on experiences.
Now, it’s finally happening!
